| Not long ago I learned of |
| suiseki, the Japanese art of |
| stone appreciation, in which. |
| stones are selected and |
| displayed for their resemblance |
| to mountains or islands. |
| I think the little landscapes |
| in this series of collages have |
| a strong relationship to that |
| esthetic. I'm always surprised |
| at how little real information |
| is needed to give wings to |
| our imagination. |
