Microcosms

Ever since childhood
I have been fascinated by
the notion of miniature worlds
one could enter and explore.
Not long ago I learned of
suiseki, the Japanese art of
stone appreciation, in which.
stones are selected and
displayed for their resemblance
to mountains or islands.
I think the little landscapes
in this series of collages have
a strong relationship to that
esthetic. I'm always surprised
at how little real information
is needed to give wings to
our imagination.
