| This series of small collages |
| is a study in diagonals and |
| the way they work inside a |
| square. I've played formal |
| structure against aged and |
| worn materials, contrasting |
| velvety old papers with hard, |
| shiny etching ink. My collection |
| of worn envelopes provided |
| ready-made diagonals, and in |
| some cases introduced curved |
| lines. The black monoprinted |
| elements are fragments of |
| large letter forms I printed on |
old book pages that I fused |
| in layers and sanded into |
| near-illegibility. |
